2) A MoveOn sponsored event

On Wednesday, thousands of us will gather at candlelight vigils to mark the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. In addition to honoring the fallen, we'll send a clear message in this sinking economy: it's time to end the war, and start using the billions wasted every week on the Iraq occupation to help folks here at home. Republicans are trying to tell a story that opposition to the war is declining. The media will be looking to this anniversary as an indicator, and we need to turn out in force!

Mon night film screening at Ray's

What: Come join LCPME (Louisville Committee for Peace in the Middle East) as they screen the film "Arna's Children": Arna's Children is a documentary about Arna, an Israeli woman, and the Palestinian children she loved and taught. Arna moved to Jenin refugee camp and began an alternative Palestinian education system after Israel shut down their school system. She directed a theatre group for these children as a healthy outlet for the frustrations, anger, and fear while living under occupation. Two years after Arna died of cancer, her son, a famous actor in Israel, returned to Jenin to see what had happened to Arna's children. The film is his documentation their stories and as he tries to make sense out of the decisions they made. It is a riveting human story about one woman's determination to lessen the tragedy for children living under occupation, and the inevitable path these children are on without intervention.

Great Mitch quote

“I won't tell you everything is great in Iraq; it is not. But we want to keep a steady flow of funds so that we don't disrupt the military,” said McConnell. “Unfortunately, most of our friends on the other isle are having a hard time admitting things are getting better; some days I almost think the critics of this war don't want us to win. Nobody is happy about losing lives but remember these are not draftees, these are full-time professional soldiers.
